Tashriq is an electrical engineer assisting with PV solar designs, project management and is the core driver in the Cyntech system integration department. His primary focus is on safety instrumented systems, HMI & SCADA development and bridging the gap between legacy systems and Industrie 4.0.
Before joining Cyntech, Tashriq was a full-time student, first doing his bachelor’s and then master’s degree in electrical engineering at Stellenbosch University. His Master’s thesis presented a theoretical and practical methodology in designing a device that could effectively monitor photo-voltaic systems using the Internet of Things.
During Tashriq’s free time at university, he worked part-time for the university’s IT department earning extra money to sustain his hobbies of experimenting with new technology. Tashriq applied the skills acquired from self-taught knowledge and those obtained at university to offer programming assistance to other students. He was also instrumental in upgrading the existing software programs in the IT department and improving the efficiency and operations of their legacy systems.
Tashriq obtained the Stellenbosch University Rectors award for excellence in leadership during his time at university. He obtained this award after being nominated for his excellent leadership qualities during his role as chairperson for his society.
Tashriq’s eagerness to learn and leadership qualities makes him a perfect fit in the Cyntech team.
